Grinder Operator/Technician

Department: Technician / Fabrication / Assembly
Location: Taylor, MI

Qualifications:

  • Requires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through extensive on the job training and experience
  • Journeyman (machining) or 8 years equivalent
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and print reading skills
  • Ability to work independently and to manage one’s time effectively
  • Knowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, mill, CNC set up/programming, surface grind, jig grind) is not required but is beneficial
  • Understanding of individual contribution to the product conformity and product safety
  • The importance of ethical behavior

 

Responsibilities:

  • The OD/ID Grinder is responsible for setting-up, operating and tending grinding
  • Grinding applications will span cylindrical grinding, ID grinding & specialized tool/spindle grinding
  • Planning and performing difficult grinding operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy
  • Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts, using a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery
  • Assists at other machines in Manufacturing when needed

 

What We Need from You:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Effective communication skills (oral / written)
  • Ability to multitask
  • No lifting restrictions
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time
